Beaches & Coastline of the Costa Vicentina

The Costa Vicentina's coastline is known for its rugged cliffs, hidden coves and vast sandy beaches. Some of the most beautiful beaches in the area are::

 

Praia Amália is a hidden gem surrounded by imposing cliffs and crystal clear waters. It can be reached via an adventurous walk along a natural path between the rocks, which makes it even more special.  A true oasis for nature lovers and peace seekers!
 

Praia de Odeceixe - One of Portugal's most beautiful beaches, where the Seixe River meets the Atlantic Ocean, creating a unique mix of freshwater and saltwater. The wide sandy beach is surrounded by impressive cliffs and offers a peaceful, natural setting for a perfect day by the sea. Ideal for surfers and families alike.

 

Praia do Carvalhal is a quiet and picturesque beach, set between impressive cliffs and lush dunes. This pristine beach offers the perfect setting for a relaxing day in the sun, with soft sand and crystal-clear waters. It is a great place for swimming, walking or just enjoying the serene atmosphere. 
 

Surfing & Water sports near Casa Nomada

The region is known for its excellent surfing conditions. There are several surf schools nearby where beginners and advanced surfers can take lessons.

 

Besides surfing, you can also enjoy excellent supping (stand-up paddleboarding) on the calm waters of the river Seixe or kayaking along the coast.

Walking & Nature in South-West Portugal


For hiking enthusiasts, Casa Nómada is an excellent base. The Rota Vicentina, one of Portugal's best-known hiking routes, runs through the region and offers spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and rolling inland.

 

Fishermen's Trail - A breathtaking coastal path that passes cliffs and beaches, perfect for adventurous walkers.
 

Historical Way - A more inland route that winds through traditional villages and cork oak forests.

 

Odeceixe River Walk - A leisurely route along the Seixe River, where you have a chance to spot birds and other wildlife.
 

Villages & Culture around Odeceixe


The picturesque village of Odeceixe is worth a visit with its narrow streets, traditional white houses and cosy squares. Sample the local cuisine in one of the authentic restaurants and enjoy specialities such as fresh fish, cataplana (a Portuguese stew) and the famous pastel de nata.

Aljezur
A charming, historic village in the western Algarve, surrounded by unspoilt nature and breathtaking beaches.

A historic town with a castle ruin and an atmospheric old centre.
 

Vilanova de Milfontes
This small village offers a perfect mix of nature, culture and relaxation. Enjoy the sandy beaches, stroll along the picturesque riverbanks, or explore the atmospheric streets full of local cafés and shops. 
 

Lagos 
A lively coastal city with historic buildings, atmospheric streets and beautiful rock formations such as Ponta da Piedade. The city offers not only charming shops and cosy cafés, but also access to some of the Algarve's most beautiful beaches, such as Praia Dona Ana and Praia do Camilo.
