About us
Welcome to Casa Nómada! We're René, Paula, and our son Levai.
A Dutch family who, over three years ago, embraced a new adventure by relocating to the sun-kissed landscapes of Southwest Portugal.
Our Journey
Our passion for travel has always been a cornerstone of our lives, making the name "Nómada" (Nomad) a perfect reflection of our spirit. After countless journeys and cherished memories, we felt a calling to plant roots in a place that resonated with our love for nature and tranquility.
In a bold move, we sold our home and business in Scheveningen, Netherlands. Within six months, we found ourselves in the quaint hamlet of Vale Juncalinho, near the charming village of Odeceixe. Here, we discovered a 3.5-hectare plot adorned with historic ruins and untamed beauty.
The past three years have been a labor of love—restoring old structures, nurturing the land, and crafting a sanctuary that we are proud to share with guests from around the world. Our journey is ongoing, with new projects and dreams continually taking shape.
Why Portugal?
Our decision to move was fueled by a desire for a sunnier climate, a welcoming community, and a pace of life that allows us to savor each moment. Portugal has offered us all this and more.
We've found a place where we can breathe, create, and share our passion for hospitality with others.
We believe that life's greatest regrets come from the things we don't do. Taking this leap has been the most rewarding chapter in our story, and we're eager to welcome you to experience the magic of Casa Nómada for yourself.

Our Animals
Our home wouldn't be complete without our animals:
Ginger: Our enthusiastic dog, always eager to greet guests with a wagging tail. While she adores people, she prefers to be the only canine on the property.
Nemo and Ninja: Our inseparable cat brothers, known for their playful antics and affectionate purrs. They've become fast friends with Ginger and are excellent at keeping the grounds free of unwelcome critters.
The Chickens: Our delightful hens provide us with fresh eggs daily and add a rustic charm to our homestead.
As our animals roam freely, we kindly ask guests to leave their own pets at home to maintain harmony on the property.
